MEETING SUMMARY

Allan - NECN

Review on the report. The board is shifting to cochairs, a couple of new board members. Allan shared the status of VNA with NECN. Allan not knowing how long he would be a liaison to NECN but unsure since our bylaws are now more casual.

Christine suggested adding it to the elections to chat about if anyone is interested in taking over the liaison position.

Review PP&R feedback about competing food item email we got from Jed Arkley

There was some feedback that we had free popsicles that were competing with the ice cream vendor but the vendor didn’t end up having an issue with it. We will try and be more aware of that in the future.

Wanted PP&R to highlight the funding needs in the future and it sounds like they will be doing that

Review our budget (from Charlotte)

Going over grants received over the years.

We have ~$600 in surplus currently in profit

We have ~$50 money to spend at Collage if we need it and leftover supplies from the movie in the park.

Taking Ownership volunteering/organizing for Vernon house

Bob was needing some work done and it seems that Taking Ownership may or may not be able to. Angie could maybe have more of an update next month.

Review Website

Talking about updating the website. Some feedback on events, donation edits and changes

Do we want to renew Zoom in Dec?

Explain how we have to help KNA sign in, should we pay for our own account or keep splitting, or meet in person, etc?

Zoom deadline is coming up in December. We could apply for the communications website again that’s $500 which would offset those costs

Trying to figure out how to do hybrid effectively. We’ll still think about options

Board election discussion for Oct 19th meeting

Christine emailing NECN to help oversee the election process

Christine is planning on stepping down, is happy to be available for answering questions and passing the torch

Chatted about next month and having more flexibility with roles and duties

Allan is also considering his board position as well. He’s impressed with NECN and feels he’s been able to see some interesting changes happening there.

Brooks is happy to stay on the board - but doesn’t know if he could be relied upon to maintain the email and newsletter

What do we need to do to ensure the group moves forward? Figuring out a change in structure.

Long message thread at vnaboard@gmail.com with Subject:"Emergency Calls for Combined Efforts of Neighborhoods NOW"

If someone wants to read through and respond to be involved with other neighborhood association

E-newsletter for Oct 2022 elections

Include movie in the park & thank our sponsors

  • Include recap of historical walking tours

  • Highlight donation possibilities

  • Highlight new website design

Portland Parks Foundation - $2k Grant

Deadline is October 15th

Brooks will submit an application for PPF grant

Free bystander training

Email about what to do if you see someone being harassed. Maybe this could be a cool board activity
