If you live in the boundaries of the Vernon neighborhood, you can fill out the simple membership form below (or at a board meeting) to become a member. VNA is a Fiscally Sponsored Project through the Northeast Coalition of Neighborhoods (NECN).

Our neighborhood is bordered by Ainsworth and Wygant, from approximately NE 22nd Ave to NE 10th. (The boundary jumps around a little from NE 14th Place to NE 10th).

Committees

  • Pedestrian Safety & Traffic Calming Committee

    Join our Pedestrian Safety & Traffic Calming Committee to help tackle the pressing issue of traffic congestion and street racing in our neighborhood. We're dedicated to collaborating with local authorities and responding to survey feedback to address these concerns head-on. By joining our committee, you'll have the opportunity to be part of the solution, advocate for safer streets, and work towards creating a community where traffic flows smoothly and residents feel secure.

  • Cleanliness & Litter Control

    Join our Trash and Litter Cleanup Committee and be a force for cleanliness and community pride. We're dedicated to partnering with local authorities and responding to survey feedback to combat litter issues in our neighborhood. By joining our committee, you'll have the opportunity to organize clean-up events, raise awareness about responsible waste disposal, and contribute to creating a cleaner and more attractive environment for all residents. Be part of the solution and let's work together to make our neighborhood cleaner and more inviting.

  • Street Trees

    Join our Street Tree Enhancement Committee and help us green our neighborhood by addressing the lack of street trees. We're committed to collaborating with the city and responding to survey feedback to enhance our urban landscape. By joining our committee, you'll have the chance to plant trees, advocate for green initiatives, and create a neighborhood where tree-lined streets not only beautify our environment but also improve our overall well-being. Be part of the change and let's work together to make our neighborhood greener and more sustainable.

As outlined in our bylaws, the purpose of the Vernon Neighborhood Association is:

  • To actively initiate, promote and implement programs for the diverse citizens of this community

  • To cooperate with governmental agencies in securing needed community services and support

  • To provide a forum at which all members of the Association may meet, consult, and arrive at decisions affecting the community's livability and physical and social environment

  • To perform all of the activities necessary to implement said purposes and to have and enjoy all of the powers granted and engage in any lawful activity for which corporations may be organized under ORS Chapter 65

  • For other objectives as approved by the Board of Directors or membership.
